Christ Is the Head of His Church

At The Summit, we believe the Church belongs to Jesus Christ.

He is the Chief Shepherd, the Head of His Church, and the One we seek to honor in everything we do. Every decision, every ministry, and every act of leadership should point people to Him rather than to ourselves.

Biblical leadership is not about position, recognition, or authority for its own sake. It is about humble service. Jesus demonstrated this by laying down His life for His people and calling those who lead His Church to shepherd with love, integrity, and faithfulness.

Our desire is to lead by the example of Christ—teaching God's Word faithfully, caring for His people compassionately, equipping believers for ministry, and making disciples who make disciples.

OUR PHILOSOPHY OF LEADERSHIP

We believe biblical leadership is built upon the example of Jesus Christ.

Our pastors, elders, deacons, and ministry leaders are not called to build personal platforms but to faithfully shepherd God's people, protect sound doctrine, equip believers for ministry, and lead with humility and servant-hearted love.

Leadership is not measured by titles or influence, but by faithfulness to God's Word and genuine love for His people.

Our Elders

At The Summit, we believe the local church is to be shepherded by a plurality of biblically qualified elders. Together, our elders are called to faithfully teach God's Word, care for God's people, protect sound doctrine, and equip the church to make disciples. While each elder may serve in different ways according to his gifts and responsibilities, we serve together under the authority of Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd and Head of the Church.

Teaching Pastor/Elder

Eric Chandler has served in pastoral ministry for more than fourteen years with a passion for faithfully preaching God's Word, making disciples, and shepherding people toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. His desire is to see lives transformed by the Gospel, families strengthened through biblical truth, and believers equipped to faithfully follow Christ and help others do the same.

Eric is the author of Saved or Self-Deceived? and has served in church planting, church revitalization, missions, sports outreach, and disciple-making ministries. He is currently completing his degree in Biblical Counseling through Liberty University as he continues to grow in his calling to shepherd and care for God's people.

Eric and his wife, Cheryl, are grateful for the opportunity to serve at The Summit and are committed to helping people meet Jesus, build authentic community, and live sent for the glory of God.

Our Commitment as Elders

As elders, our calling is to faithfully shepherd God's people under the authority of Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd. We are committed to teaching God's Word, caring for the church, praying for those entrusted to our care, equipping believers for ministry, protecting sound doctrine, and making disciples who make disciples.

We recognize that this is a sacred responsibility, and we strive to lead with humility, integrity, and servant-hearted love, always seeking to glorify Christ rather than ourselves.

"Shepherd the flock of God that is among you... not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock."
1 Peter 5:2–3

Looking Ahead

As The Summit continues to grow, we are committed to prayerfully developing and equipping faithful men and women to serve Christ and His Church according to the gifts and calling God has given them.

We believe healthy churches are built as disciples mature into servant leaders. As God raises up biblically qualified elders, deacons, ministry leaders, teachers, and faithful servants, we will joyfully recognize and equip them for the work of ministry.

Our desire is not simply to fill positions, but to develop people who love Jesus, faithfully live out His Word, and are committed to making disciples who make disciples.

We trust that as we remain faithful to Christ and His mission, He will continue to build His Church for His glory.
